Baú (Cargo Box/Dry Van)
A baú (or baú de carga seca, “dry cargo box”) is the common term for the enclosed cargo area of a truck or van. It’s designed to protect goods from the elements (rain, sun, dust) and theft.
Purpose: Primarily for transporting goods that do not require temperature control, such as general merchandise, furniture, electronics, textiles, and many types of packaged foods.
Construction: Typically made of aluminum, steel, or fiberglass, with insulated or non-insulated walls, roof, and floor.
Types: There are various types, including:
Baú Lonado (Curtainside): Has flexible side curtains that can be opened for easier loading/unloading.
Baú Fechado (Box Truck/Dry Van): Fully enclosed.
Baú Sider (Sidewall Loader):
